LAST HEMI V8-POWERED RAM 1500 TURNED INTO VIPER-INSPIRED SUPERTRUCK

Facelifted for MY2025, the Ram 1500 pickup truck has abandoned the V8 engine in favor of six-cylinder motors. To say goodbye to the 1500 V8, Hennessey has introduced the limited edition Mammoth 400 Sport Truck with handling and styling upgrades.

Hennessey has partnered with Fox Factory to produce the special truck, and this influence is evident in the enhanced suspension system. The Mammoth 400 receives Fox/Ridetech suspension that improves handling and lowers the center of gravity. The final result is rather appealing, with the Mammoth 400 hugging the ground like a sports SUV or crossover. It won't be as good as a standard Ram 1500 off-road, but who cares when it looks this good?
What Changes Have Been Made?
Aside from a new performance exhaust with carbon fiber tips, there are no additional under-the-skin upgrades. That means the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 produces a respectable 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The difference is that the Mammoth 400 will be more controllable and engaging through the corners. The significant changes can be found on the exterior; the Mammoth 400 benefits from an aggressive-looking front bumper, carbon fiber splitter, and sporty-looking side skirts.

22-inch wheels are an option, and customers can choose from a satin black or gloss black milled dark tint finish. With the available color schemes, Hennessey is paying tribute to Mopar's heritage. GTS Blue, Viper Red, and Viper white - all accented by the twin Viper Stripes - look superb and are a not-so-subtle nod to Hennessey's ties with Dodge and Viper fans. It's great to see someone playing around with the sports truck concept, which has been absent from the truck market for some time. The closest we've seen to a resurgence of the sports truck was last year's Toyota's Tacoma X-Runner concept.

A Very Exclusive Sports Truck
The Mammoth 400 will be an exclusive affair, with Hennessey planning to produce just 250 units for the global market. Each vehicle will receive unique Hennessey badging along with a serial-numbered engine plaque. A three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty adds peace of mind to the package. Hennessey says customers can purchase the vehicles through Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram dealerships.

As for pricing, customers can expect to pay $39,995 for the package. Of course, this doesn't include the donor truck itself. While it's a shame that the V8 has been retired, the new Hurricane inline-six motor offers 420 hp and 469 lb-ft in Standard Output guise. Those are strong outputs, but the High Output is even more powerful, with 540 hp and 521 lb-ft, which makes it way more powerful than the outgoing V8.
