FIRST LOOK: New Rolls-Royce Cullinan – Upgrading The World’s Most Luxurious SUV

The Cullinan, Rolls-Royce’s controversial super-luxury SUV (at least to those who can’t afford one) is now its most popular model, and has been given a mid-life tickle-up. The changes for the Cullinan Series II are driven by the evolving Rolls customer, who is just 43 in 2024. And that younger customer wants, says Rolls, ‘bolder forms of self-expression’. On the outside that means new vertical daytime running lights, an illuminated ‘Pantheon’ grille and 23in wheels. Inside, the luxe is dialled up even more, with the likes of a bamboo-based ‘Duality Twill’ interior that has up to 2.2 MILLION stitches and 11 MILES of thread, while ‘Placed Perforation’ seats create imagery through the position of over 100,000 tiny holes. There’s also a Cullinan Black Badge model from the get-go, again determined by that younger customer: when the Cullinan was launched in 2018, over 30% were chauffeur driven; today, it’s less than 10%. There’s more power than standard, an uprated chassis, and no shiny chrome. Do the tweaks keep it a rung above the Bentley Bentayga and Range Rover? What Will Your Tesla Be Worth In 5 Years? New Study Sheds Light on Dismal EV Depreciation Trends

A study by iSeeCars found that electric vehicles have significantly higher depreciation rates than gas-powered vehicles on average. EVs had an average 5-year depreciation rate of 49.1%, compared to 38.8% for all vehicle types. Among the EVs tracked that have been out for at least 5 years, the Tesla Model 3 had the best retention at 42.9% depreciation, followed by the Tesla Model X was second best at 49.9%. The Nissan Leaf came in at 50.8% and Chevrolet Bolt EV at 51.1%.
